| yeah I wouldn't bet on anything like that happening, but I do believe that something similar (an infectious disease that has spreaded or the like) is highly possible. So how do you defend yourself against a disease like this? | |

| gas masks and protectivesuits would help minimise an infectious disease contaminating you although the prospect of a disease that would turn you into something like a 'zombie' is highly unlikely. | |

| If you have seen the movie 28 Days later it could be something like that which is very probable. And It would more than likely be transferred through blood or there would be no reason to bite. So gas masks would protect your face from blood entering your mouth or eyes and general caution with cuts etc. would be advised. | |

| Yeah that sounds like pretty good ideas guys, do you think that this could possibly be a airborne disease where protective suits and gas masks may be rendered inoperable. I.e. a disease that can penetrate this type of equipment? highly unlikely, but nothings possible don't you think? | |

| its possible that the airborne disease could be acidic in a way, but the only airborne agent I know of that can damage some masks and equipment are blister agents such as mustard gas. | |

| Yeah you're right Nathan. I was just thinking about the possibility of a new disease being developed that is unlike other diseases, so that conventional methods of protecting ourselves could be rendered irrelevant. Who knows? | |

| Yeah I'd say our best bet is deep in the bush, away from the coast and any major cities or towns. | |

| Yea, if you watch the show, the walking dead, i reckon that it is a pretty acc8urate assumtion on what it would be like in real life.... Ok did anyone see the new on the "dead" homeless man, who was shhot seven times and gave a bystander the lost privelage of a face... at happened aswell in Miami, recently... A man, chased down a dog in the middle of the street and ripped its organs from its very body... is it just me or is it already happening :O? | |

| Could already be happening, the US government say its a class 3 infection so a slow progressing virus........which can be potentially more dangerous as its harder to tell if someone is infected. | |

| dw, its gettin there mate
and im notin the training stage yet... what we need is a tactical plan that wont get us killed... no movie reference there, everything they do in movies is meant to be heroic but it is just plain suicide... i say we make up a plan and then get training

nah were not all prepping for a zpoc. were prepping for almost any sort of major event so unarmed combat will be useful is many situations.

| yeah I agree with Nathan, unarmed combat is very useful in a variety of situations, not just the zpoc. We arent training for that one specific event, but rather a variety. | |

| i reckon that the zombie virus might just be an evolution of a virus like rabies... i mean think about it, swelling brain, aggression, loss of concept of reality... it does sound very zombie- esq | |
